Ему принадлежит авторство музыки к таким картинам, как "Звезда пленительного счастья", "Белое солнце пустыни", "Соломенная шляпка", "100 дней после детства", "Мелодия белой ночи" и др. И.Шварц был удостоен гран-при на многих международных кинофестивалях, ему трижды присуждалась высшая кинематографическая награда России - премия "Ника". В 1971 году он выпустил первую сольную запись "Got to Be There", а в 1972-м его первый сингл "Ben" занял первую строчку в американских хит-парадах. Первый сольный альбом Майкла Джексона вышел в 1975 году. Его самым успешным альбомом стал "Thriller", который вышел в 1982 году. С тех пор было продано 26 миллионов копий пластинки в США и около 65 миллионов по всему миру. В 2009 году зрители телеканала MTV выбрали "Thriller" "Величайшим альбомом в истории". «Thriller» возглавлял Billboard 200 в течение невероятных 9 месяцев (37 недель) и не покидал пределов этого чарта более двух лет (122 недели). За этот альбом Джексон получил 8 премий «Грэмми» и семь American Music Awards. В активе Джексона 19 премий «Грэмми»; 13 раз он поднимался со своими синглами на первую строчку американских чартов продаж. Его имя дважды занесено в Зал славы рок-н-ролла — в качестве сольного исполнителя и участника Jackson 5. Дважды выступал в России: в 1993 на БСА в "Лужниках" и в 1996 на московском стадионе "Динамо".       Скончался от инфаркта 25 июня 2009 года в госпитале Университета Калифорнии в Лос-Анджелесе. Ранее днем в четверг певец приняв обезболивающий препарат демерол (петидин, меперидин), почувствовал себя плохо в своем доме в Холмби-Хиллз - фешенебельном квартале Лос-Анджелеса в богатом районе Вествуд (непосредственно прилегающем к городу миллионеров Беверли-Хиллз) и около полудня по местному времени (23:00 по московскому) у Джексона остановилось сердце. Его в состоянии комы доставили в больницу UCLA Medical Center, но врачи не сумели его спасти.
      У него осталось три ребенка (Prince Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., 1997 и Paris Katherine Jackson, 1998 от брака 1996-99 с медсестрой Deborah Jeanne Rowe; а также Prince Michael Joseph Jackson II (a/k/a "Blanket", 2002) от сурогатной матери; от брака 1994-96 с Lisa Marie Presley детей не было). Дети остались, а вот преемников на сцене у короля нет. Конгресс США почтил память Майкла Джексона минутой молчания.
