      Фауна муравьёв Испании включает
240 видов из 43 родов и 5 подсемейств (10 видов Dolichoderinae, 84 - Formicinae, 5 - Leptanillinae, 131 - Myrmicinae, 10 - Ponerinae). К ним следует добавить несколько новых недавно найденных интродуцированных пантропических видов:
Tapinoma melanocephalum (Fabricius, 1793) (Espadaler, Espejo, 2002),
Tetramorium bicarintum (Nylander, 1846),
Tetramorium caldarium (Roger, 1857),
Tetramorium lanuginosum Mayr, 1870 (Reyes & Espadaler, 2005).
      По-сути, список включает мирмекофауну всего Пиренейского полуострова (с Португалией). Отдельно для Португалии указывется 114 видов муравьев (Boieiro et al., 2003). По своему богатству Испанская мирмекофауна (239+4) уступает в Европе только Итальянской фауне муравьев (250).

    Lasius platythorax is reported from five localities, all in the northern half of the Iberian Peninsula. Distinction with the sibling Lasius grandis is stated.
    
    
16. Espadaler, X. and X. Roig (2001 (2000)). "Ants from the Montnegre-Corredor Natural Park (NE pain) with description of the male Lasius cinereus Seifert (Hymenoptera, Formicidae)." Misc. Zool. 23: 45-53.
    A survey was conducted on the myrmecofauna of this protected zone near Barcelona (NE Spain). A total of 50 species was found. Lasius lasioides (Emery) and Lasius cinereus Seifert are added to the fauna of Catalonia. The males of this latter species are described for the first time; their smaller size separates them from the otherwise similar males of Lasius grandis Forel. The head and scape are proportionately longer in L. cinereus. One sample of Lasius (Chthonolasius) was unusual since it contained two sharply distinct phenotypes differentiated by the pubescence, biometry and degree of flattening of appendages. One form is provisionally identified as L. umbratus (Nylander); the other form is tentatively associated with Lasius rabaudi Bondroit. The presence of the invasive Argentine ant (Linepithema humile Mayr) at one of the borders of the park calls for monitoring its eventual spread and we sugest a rehabilitation of the area presently occupied by this ant.
