      Богдан Писарский (1928-1992) был крупнейшим польским мирмекологом, энтомологом, возглавлявшим Институт зоологии Польской Академии наук. В области мирмекологии интересовался этологией муравьев, их территориальностью, фауной Польши, Афганистана, Монголии.

       Обучался в Варшавском университете (1947-1952), где стал магистром наук. Под руководством профессора Tadeusza Jaczewskiego начал работать в Институте зоологии в Варшаве (Instytucie Zoologii PAN, Panstw. Muzeum Zoologicznym), где он получил докторскую степень, стал профессором, а с 1982 года был директором института. В 1992 году был внезапно отстранен от должности в рамках кампании "sanacji" научных институтов, проводимой руководством Академии ПАН. Умер в том же году во время полевых работ в Финляндии.
